Greece - Real Time Invoice Reporting

It has been reported that Greece is proposing to introduce real-time invoice reporting to the tax authorities from January 2019 for all companies dealing with the public sector and limited liability companies.

If implemented, sales invoice details will have to be electronically submitted to the Greek tax authorities at the same time as being issued to customers. The customers will then have to  electronically confirm live receipt with the tax authorities.

The Greek authorities are hoping such a new invoice reporting regime such as this will prevent common errors on these types of invoices and also prevent VAT fraud in the country. If successful it will then be extended to all taxpayer transactions from January 2020.

We will of course keep you updated with any developments. Should you require any VAT assistance in Greece, or require any international VAT assistance, please contact us.
